Greetings Lady Nicolaa,

In answer to you question about flexi-daggers, American Fencer sells
them through it's Armoury Catalog though they are a lot more expensive
then Triplette.

American Fencers Supply
1180 Folsom St.
San Francisco, CA 94103
(415) 863-7911

As a side note I spoke recently to Triplette and was told that they were
going to be at Pennsic for the first time this year selling equipment.
They are sharing a merchant booth with some fabric merchant. They are
planning on having both epee blades and flexi-daggers for sale.

Greetings to you as well,

For really good period weapons, you might try Scottie Armoury. Malcolm has many
different style of daggers and rapiers available as well as custom work. You
can
find his catalog at the following address:

http://www.primenet.com/~valenti/scottie/catalog.htm

It has pictures and everything. Hope this helps you in your search.

Good Gentle,

I host an on-line catalog for a local Atenveldt Smith who creates some of the
finest blades in the known world. Scotties Armory can be found at:

http://www.primenet.com/~valenti/scottie/catalog.htm

I hope that he might have some of what you seek.

Ask for the stiffest blade they have. This is usually a "C", but who
knows what their rating system is this week, or if the person you are
talking to understands it?

Yes, American Fencing and Scotty Armory. Both are significantly more
expensive than Triplett. What's more, American is often rude and most of
their folks have very little use for SCAers.

To find out more about Scotty Armory, try out

Have fun!

I just ordered some stuff from the two vendors in question. They are:

Triplette Competition Arms
162 W. Pine St.
Mt. Airy, NC 27030
(910) 786-5294

and

American Fencers Supply Co.
1180 Folsom St.
San Fransisco, CA 94103
(415) 863-7911
(415) 431-4931 fax

If you want a catalogue from American Fencers, get the "Armoury
Supplement". If you get it when you order it doesn't cost $3.
Unfortunately, the Spanish Cup Hilt, which you want from American
Fencers, has a 6 week lead-time, and Triplette is out of the desired
Mangold mask, with a 3 week lead-time. But I figured that gets me the
equipment after the holidays, and after I get back from England :-),
so 'tis not a problem.

Basically, the Spanish cup hilt comes from American Fencers, and
everything else (mask, blades) comes from Triplette.

For a Society source: Black Rose Creations, Don Terrence Marr, (609) 96-1297,
representing AFS, and providing custom hilts <as in anything Vessey Norman
ever cataloged>
dmr

<if you cannot reach him direct, mail me here and I'll get him in touch>

Also look for the web page of Don Justinian Syke <Syke's Subletring, supplier
of standard fencing gear and many late-period SCA / also ECW gear, including
blackpowder devices (he was the author of the excellent CA on the subject)>

Terry tends to stock/get more metric blades, George <Justinian> more
english-thread stuff, but both can provide either and provide fine service to
the Society. OK, shameless plug. I am a good friend of Terry, who has also
taught me a good deal about what I know about fencing, and I like George and
Heather and <forgot to mention> they have alot of good stuf an SCA fencer
might need - Falconwood reprints of period fencing manuals, period clothing,
etc.

Their prices, in my net surfing, are also usually better than ordering direct
from AFS, Santelli, Triplette or the dealers who specialize in mundane fencing
gear, like $80 non-electric Olympic-caliber foil blades and pistol grips.

There are probably many others in the Society who are just as good who I don't
know.

I have a page that lists a lot of folks who, in addition to selling
rapiers, sell the kind of stuff legal for SCA 'fence. The URL is
"http://potato.cit.cornell.edu/Bryan/Rapier/merchants.html"

I've got about ten or twelve merchants listed.
